Where do I even begin with Jamie and Jesse? This past year I have had the honor of photographing their love three different times, but this last session was the best of all. Heck it might have even bee the best of 2018!
The Greeley Stampede is the highlight of our summers here in Northern Colorado, its….a bit of an acquired taste LOL. Jamie for one, was not particularly looking forward to the event, but her sister INSISTED they go! So as the events started they walked across the dusty parking lot full of rodeo contestant trailers and trucks. As Jamie walked beside her sister a cowboy gazed her way. His name was Jesse, and across that dust filled parking lot, not knowing it at the time he set eyes on the woman he would one day call his wife.
Jesse, quick on his feet asked his buddy Chance who “the pretty blonde girl” was walking with Jessica. “That’s her sister”….and Jesse, knowing Jessica, hollered out to her in hope of just being able to meet that blonde haired girl next to her.
The introduction turned into several long hours of conversation between Jamie and Jesse, so when Jamie had Bullfighting tickets for later that week, she thought what better person to take than this new cowboy! The two agree that Love at First Sight is a real thing-the week of the Greeley Stampede turned out to be the best week of their lives. Jamie told me that she honestly believes that God created Jesse for her. That summer Jesse stopped by the Kersey Inn too see Jamie and as Jamie puts it, he definitely tried to buy her love in tips! A few weeks went by and they moved in together, everyone thought they were insane for making sure a huge step so quickly. You know what they say, when you know-you know.
The first of many adventures for them started later that year in South Dakota, Jesse had never been but what he remembers most about it was sitting by this beautiful creek for hours, laughing and talking about everything they could think of. That moment was amazing but Jesse was “sweating bullets because I wanted to bring our relationship to the public level, but I couldn’t find a way to put how I felt into words. When I finally mustered up the courage to say something, she agreed and I couldn’t have been happier. What I thought was a spark at first when we met…soon turned into a burning fire we have for each other. Inseparable is an understatement with us.”
”Weeks turned into months and month turned into years, but the love we share for each other has never has never burnt out or even dwindled.”
They were made for each other. Leading up to their engagement, Jamie learned that when Jesse first got the ring he kept it in his coat pocket to keep out of sight…. and when he decided to do some laundry (what a good boyfriend!) that night, which included the jacket that housed the ring box. Now if you know Jesse personally you’ll get a real kick out of this one. He was surprised to see the box and ring in the washing machine later, but he was glad to know it was clean! LOL
The ring saga didn’t end here..oh no, it get’s better. April 13th was the day. Jesse planned a weekend getaway for Jamie up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. It was so romantic. First when they get up there, Jamie makes Jesse eat at her favorite sushi place. He’s disgusted by it, but suffers through it. Then later that night, Jamie being in school had an assignment that needed to be finished. Apparently she brought it with her even! A sheep brain dissection! Thank’s Jesse for bringing that pocket knife!
The next morning they got up to go explore on the gondolas, but the attractions were closed due to high winds, so instead they found themselves on top of Glenwood Canyon lookout. Jesse said “At this point and time I was so nervous I could not stop shaking, I had no nerves about my plan the whole time heading up there until I was getting ready to propose. It was the most nerve racking 10 minutes of my life. I got down on one knee and said; “Jamie you are the love of my life and I would love to spend the rest of my life with you, will you ma………..”I STARTED TO OPEN THE BOX AND THE RING FELL OUT OF THE BOX ONTO THE DECK WHERE WE WERE STANDING AND ROLLED THROUGH THE CRACK!! I immediately without hesitation jumped over the railing to retrieve the ring. Mind you, from the railing to the edge of the 1000 foot drop of the cliff was a total of 6 feet I had to land on which didn’t process in my head until I landed…I grabbed the ring, dusted it off and hopped back up on the deck. Jamie looked absolutely mortified at this point. I proceeded to say, “will you marry me please?”
Of course she said yes.
Not knowing if she should laugh or cry at what she had just witnessed.
No rings were lost in the making of these photos LOL.
